70 Apartments, Milton Keynes

Project Highlights

200+ shipping containers
70 x 2 bed apartments
Installed during challenging winter months
Created safe homes for vulnerable families

The Background

Faced with a severe homelessness crisis Milton Keynes planned to add temporary homes to keep families together while the City Council worked to find a more permanent home.

Utilising shipping containers ensures that the accommodation can be re-used elsewhere at the end of the scheme.

Our Solution

Working with Quinn Groundworks & Construction & Mears Group we solved complex issues to complete the installation:

provided specialist labour and project management
supported procurement of associated materials
developed installation strategy to increase productivity
adapted to changing project requirements

The Outcome

Purpose built emergency accommodation creating additional safe homes for the people most in need of housing with:

installation commenced within weeks of contract award
rapid installation by a 4 person installation team
minimal disruption to the local community
limited waste created from the installation of the units
