Challenge

The striking and contemporary design acknowledges the agricultural heritage of the location. Challenging planning conditions called for a low energy structure with height restrictions. The architect designed huge open spans, large windows, double height living areas and a habitable roof space.

Solution

A hybrid structure comprising Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), glulams and steel.
Limited disruption to village with reduced deliveries on tight access roads outside of peak times
Local stone, welsh timber and zinc roof finishes with expansive glazing including full height areas
Low energy home with ground source heat pumps, photovoltaics, mechanical heat recovery units and Tesla Powerwall home batteries
Finished in local stone, welsh timber, glazed areas including full height glazing and zinc roof.
